From Zero to Invention: Waterloo workshop

A one-day workshop for students who don’t have an idea yet: how to find real problems worth solving, and how to turn one into an invention.

Registration via Skejel

About this event

You don’t need an idea to take part. The morning is about finding problems: where to look, how to tell a real problem from an inconvenience, and how to describe one precisely. The afternoon turns a chosen problem into an invention concept, with a first look at whether it is new — including a live search of published patents. You leave with a written problem statement, a concept sketch and a note on what to protect. Intellectual property (IP) is the legal protection for an invention; no prior knowledge is assumed.

Registration

Free for University of Waterloo students. $40 for everyone else.
