Will I get a tax receipt?

No. FICI is a not-for-profit organization, not a registered charity, so we can’t issue official donation receipts for tax purposes. You’ll receive a payment receipt from Stripe.

How do I register for an event?

Each event page has registration buttons. FICI events use Skejel; other events use the organizer’s platform.

No. You need a working prototype or MVP. If you’re earlier than that, From Zero to Invention or Innovation to Commercialization is the right place to start.

Be careful. Public disclosure before filing can affect your patent rights. Share only what you’re comfortable with, and speak with an IP professional if you’re unsure.

No. Your application is shared only with FICI reviewers and, if you’re selected, with the competition organizers. Your invention appears on our website only if you’re selected and give permission.

What’s the relationship between FICI and IFIA?

IFIA is an international federation of inventor organizations founded in 1968. FICI is a full member of IFIA and its official representative in Canada: it connects Canadians to IFIA’s network and leads the National Inventors’ Team of Canada at IFIA events.

No. A filed patent application is enough. A granted patent isn’t required.
